Among the many things I start and do not always finish, embroidery has become one of my favorite ways of art and self-expression. The best part about it is that it is a fool-proof hobby, seeing as if you make a mistake, you can easily fix it by simply pulling the thread back. Last summer, I started with smaller projects. Let's just say, it did not go as wonderfully as I was expecting it to go.
Initially, it seems very difficult as there are countless types of stitches and if you are anything like me, you obviously want to start with the most difficult ones first. I struggled in the very beginning and did not seem to progress much. I reached a point where I simply gave up and put my embroidery box away into a corner and did not touch it for over a year.
Later on in the summer of the following year of 2021, during one of my deep house cleaning sessions, I found the box once again right where I left it. This time around, I picked it up, and with no specific idea or design in mind, I just started embroidering a random flower. For some unknown reason, I seemed to have become an 'expert' considering I have not practiced and touched it for over a year. To this day, I keep questioning what could have happened but I can say I am not complaining.
All I can say is that if you decide to start this hobby, do not give up. If you give it time, you will see it was worth it. At first, I started out with what I had at home - a simple thread and needle with an old scrap material that no one needed. It was not the fancy and aesthetic set we keep seeing on Pinterest and over on Instagram, however, as I have experienced, it did do the job (mysteriously, a little too well). It has taught me that you do not need the newest and best tools to make something great, especially if you are only starting out with it and are practicing.

THE INSPIRATION
Happy embroidering! And do not forget, it will not be Van Gogh's greatest work on the very first tries!
