Recipe: Hungarian Snow Crescents

During the festive season, I was on a major baking spree and decided I wanted to find a new recipe that was both easy and quick as well as festive. After looking at several websites and comparing recipes, I have come across the most appealing cookies ever! They're originally from Hungary, and it seems like it is a traditional festive recipe that reappears on the dining table annually around Christmastime. I found the original recipe to be quite a small batch, therefore, I have made some minor changes here and there. Here is what I came up with:

serving makes about 50 small crescents

INGREDIENTS

200 g  |  flour

  30 g  |  powdered sugar

 125 g  |  butter

 1 tsp  |  baking powder

  50 g  |  grated hazelnuts

INSTRUCTIONS

1  |  In a large bowl, combine the flour (sift it first!) + baking powder + ground hazelnuts + icing sugar with the butter and let it rest in the fridge for 1-2 hours.

2  |  Pinch off small pieces from the dough and form them into little crescents by creating a ball first and then a noodle.

3  |  Line your tray with a baking sheet and place the crescents on it. The cookies will not expand too much, however, you should leave some space between each of them.

4  |  Bake in a preheated oven at 190° C for 13-15 minutes. Be careful with the time, they burn quickly!

5  |  Let them cool off before taking them out of the tray asthey break easily.

Bon Appétit!
If you decide to give it a go yourself, let me know!
